1. Isaac McDonald1 Grizzle (#9825) was born in Jackson Co., Al before Jun 1837. Isaac died 18 Mar 1863 in Alabama, In Service Of Confederate Army, at 25 years of age.

He married Minerva J. Northcutt in Madison Co., Al, 5 Dec 1859. (Minerva J. Northcutt is #9824.) Minerva was born in Madison Co., Al 1830. Minerva died in ?. At 31 years of age Minerva became the mother of James Andrew Grizzle in Peter's Cove, Jackson Co., Al, 16 Feb 1862.

At 24 years of age Isaac became the father of James Andrew Grizzle in Peter's Cove, Jackson Co., Al, 16 Feb 1862. Isaac McDonald Grizzle was born about 1837 in Jackson County, Alabamaprobably in Cotton Cove to Isaac and Frances Stephens Adams Grizzle. Itis stated in, "History of Jackson County," by J. R. Kennamer, Sr., thatbefore the Civil War, Mack Grizzl e was one of the teachers that taught ina log house that stood near the home of D. C. Kennamer. On 5 December1859 Isaac McDonald married Minerva P. Northcut, the youngest child ofGideon and Martha Pearson Northcutt. Her father had been electe d asState Representative in 1830 the year that Minerva was born but he wasmurdered before he could take office. Isaac McDonald Grizzle got themarriage license in Madison County and under the name of McDonaldGrizzard. In 1860, M. D. and Minerv a are found in the household of hisfather, Isaac.

Their first child, William was born 12 September 1860, the second wasJames Andrew, born 16 February 1862 and Agnes Frances was born in 1863. Isaac McDonald Grizzle, enlisted in the Confederate Army on September 10,1862. He enlisted at New Market, under the name M. D. Grizzle in CompanyC, 4 Reg't Alabama Cavalry under Capt. Gurley. James Andrew was only 7months old and Agnes F. ha d not been born. He died of disease on 17March 1863. He is buried in Union Cemetery with a hand chisled fieldstonemarking his grave with the name; M D Grizzle.

Minerva remarried, 1 August 1866 to William Gaines in Jackson County. Inthe 1970 census of Jackson county James Andrew is 8 years old and islisted in the household of his grandparents, Isaac and Frances. MinervaNorthcut, Grizzle Gaines is foun d as head of her household. Don't knowif William died or if William left her. Others in the household are herson, William Grizzle 10 and her daughter, Agnes Frances 7 and Lawson &Virginia Gaines two. So Minerva had twins by William Gaines. He r sonWilliam Grizzle married at age 19 on 15 June 1879 Minerva Jane Coffey inJackson County. They left Alabama and are found in the 1880 census ofBoliver County MS. In the 1880 census Minerva is found using the name ofGrizzle and states sh e is a widow. Her son, James, and her daughter,Agnes Frances are with her as are the Gaines twins, Virginia and BenjaminLawson who are 12. This is the last trace I have of Minerva or AgnesFrances. My wish is to find out what happened to Minerva , One of myregretts is that I didn't find out from my grandfather what happened tohis mother and many other things.
