child 5 iv. Arden Evans (#8267). Arden died after 22 Nov 1861 in Wilkes Co., Ga. He married Martha Inze Rouse. (Martha Inze Rouse is #8268.) Martha is the daughter of Mary Rouse. Arden Evans died sometimes after 22 Nov 1861. In his will of that date he left his mother-in-law Mary Rouse five hundred dollars provided that his old negro man Ben be allowed to select his owner and that he be provided for life. bequeathed "al l the balance of my property both real and personal be equally divided among my nephews and nieces that may be living at the time of my death. ...provided that the amount that may fall in the division to my nephew Evan Bates, son of my sister Hann ah Bates, shall be surrendered by my executors to whoever my said nephew shall select...and held in trust for the benefit of my nephew and his children...etc, and directed that the property be sold for division. The list of those named as nephew s and nieces is long and includes: F. Marion Bates, Mary Bates, Thomas F. Bates, William E. Bates, Sarah and William Walker, Evaline and John Pate.

John was born in Va about 1783. John was the son of David Bates and Drucilla Echols. John died circa 1840. John became the father of Evaline Bates in Ga, about 1811. At 34 years of age John became the father of William E. Bates in Ga, 1817. At 47 years of age John became the father of Mary Bates 1830. (See John S. Bates for the continuation of this line.)

Sarah became the mother of Evaline Bates in Ga, about 1811. At 33 years of age Sarah became the mother of William E. Bates in Ga, 1817. At 46 years of age Sarah became the mother of Mary Bates 1830.
