He married Georgia Ann 'Annie' Isbell 11 Jan 1883. (Georgia Ann 'Annie' Isbell is #16353.) Georgia was born in Shelby Co., Al Nov 1864. Georgia was the daughter of Zachariah Isbell and Eliza Ann Stanfield. Georgia died before 1 Apr 1913 in Shelby Co., Al. At 20 years of age Georgia became the mother of Mary 'Eliza' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Feb 1885. At 22 years of age Georgia became the mother of Lou 'Della' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Sep 1887. At 25 years of age Georgia became the mother of John H. Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Sep 1890. At 27 years of age Georgia became the mother of James 'Harrison' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, May 1892. At 29 years of age Georgia became the mother of Minnie M. Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Nov 1893. At 30 years of age Georgia became the mother of Buster L. Davis in Shelby Co., Al, 1 Jan 1895. At 31 years of age Georgia became the mother of Thomas 'Allen' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Jun 1896.

At 36 years of age Joseph became the father of Mary 'Eliza' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Feb 1885. At 39 years of age Joseph became the father of Lou 'Della' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Sep 1887. At 42 years of age Joseph became the father of John H. Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Sep 1890. At 43 years of age Joseph became the father of James 'Harrison' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, May 1892. At 45 years of age Joseph became the father of Minnie M. Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Nov 1893. At 46 years of age Joseph became the father of Buster L. Davis in Shelby Co., Al, 1 Jan 1895. At 47 years of age Joseph became the father of Thomas 'Allen' Davis in Shelby Co., Al, Jun 1896. Birth year given as 1848 on 1900 census. Tombstone gives year of birth as 1842. Other family data gives birth and death dates as 17 July 1943 - 30 Nov 1923. "He (Helton) served in Company E of the Seventh Alabama Calvary. The Seventh Calvary fought battles at Selma and Montevallo. Helton was thrown from his horse and broke his collar bone. Helton married Emma 'Dart' Smith on June 21, 1868. She was the daughter of Marshall B. Smith and Dinah Owens. Helton and Emma had three children: 1) Van Buren (18 July 1869 - 3 Feb. 1946) married on Oct. 20, 1895 to Rosa Whitfield (10 Mar . 1874 - 12 Oct. 1950), 2) Martha born 1870, and 3) Diana born 1873." Source unknown. Appears to be part of a typed history on the Davis family given to me by Margie Isbell. Joseph Helton Davis is child number six. Margie has written in tha t Helton is a son of Joseph Davis (1811 -1854) who married Mary Helton of GA on 13 Jan. 1833. They had twelve children. Data on all children abstracted from this history.

child 4 iii. John H. Davis (#16359) was born in Shelby Co., Al Sep 1890.

child 5 iv. James 'Harrison' Davis (#16360) was born in Shelby Co., Al May 1892.

child 6 v. Minnie M. Davis (#16361) was born in Shelby Co., Al Nov 1893.

child 7 vi. Buster L. Davis (#16362) was born in Shelby Co., Al 1 Jan 1895. Buster died 22 Mar 1970 at 75 years of age. He married Margaret Delia Stewart 1 May 1913. (Margaret Delia Stewart is #16363.) Name given as Emannuel Buster in Davis history. Also gave complete birth and death dates, marriage date and spouse.
