James was the son of Jesse Isbell and Sarah Morgan. James became the father of Maryland 'Mary' C. Isbell in Ms, circa 1862. At 31 years of age James became the father of John Richard Isbell in Ms, 1864. At 33 years of age James became the father of Caldonia 'Callie Arkansas Isbell in Ms, 1866. At 35 years of age James became the father of Sarah Josephine Isbell in Oklona, Ms, 17 Nov 1868. At 37 years of age James became the father of Virginia Bell 'Jennie' Isbell in Ms, 1870.
