Thomas is the son of Sir John Seymour and Margaret Wentworth. Parr, Catherine (1512-48), Sixth and last queen consort of King HenryVIII of England. The daughter of Sir Thomas Parr, controller of theking's household, Catherine was twice widowed before marring Henry in1543. She acted as regent for him whil e he campaigned in France (1544)and was influential in restoring his daughters, the future queens Mary Iand Elizabeth I, to his favor; she helped educate both of them. AProtestant sympathizer, Catherine protected from persecution those whodissent ed from Catholic doctrine. After Henry's death and the accessionof Edward VI, she married the new king's uncle, Thomas Seymour, BaronSeymour of Sudelely.
