1. Charles O'Neal1 Alvis (#12349) was born in Walker Co., Al 8 Jul 1914. Charles died 13 Mar 1993 in Leeds, Jefferson Co., Al, at 78 years of age. His body was interred in Dunnavant Com. Cem., Dunnavant, Shelby Co., Al.

He married Helen Lou Isbell. (Helen Lou Isbell is #12348.) Helen was born in Jefferson Co., Al 16 Jan 1927. Helen is the daughter of John William 'Will' Isbell and Willie Nora Armstrong. Helen became the mother of Mary Katherine 'Kat' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 16 JUL. Helen became the mother of Glenda 'Fay' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 28 JUL. Helen became the mother of Mildred 'Christine' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, DECEASED. Helen became the mother of Vickie Renee Alvis 8 OCT. At 15 years of age Helen became the mother of Helen 'Louise' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 13 Jan 1943. At 17 years of age Helen became the mother of Wendell O'Neal 'Bill' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 10 Aug 1944. At 23 years of age Helen became the mother of Anthony Steven 'Tony' Alvis Sr. in Jefferson Co., Al, 22 Oct 1950. At 27 years of age Helen became the mother of Richard Wayne Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 1 May 1954.

Charles became the father of Mary Katherine 'Kat' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 16 JUL. Charles became the father of Glenda 'Fay' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 28 JUL. Charles became the father of Mildred 'Christine' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, DECEASED. Charles became the father of Vickie Renee Alvis 8 OCT. At 28 years of age Charles became the father of Helen 'Louise' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 13 Jan 1943. At 30 years of age Charles became the father of Wendell O'Neal 'Bill' Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 10 Aug 1944. At 36 years of age Charles became the father of Anthony Steven 'Tony' Alvis Sr. in Jefferson Co., Al, 22 Oct 1950. At 39 years of age Charles became the father of Richard Wayne Alvis in Jefferson Co., Al, 1 May 1954. Charles was the son of Parilee (Romine) and David Alvis. He may have been born at Colburg out from Jasper. He had a brother Woodrow. When he was a teenager another teen kicked him on the leg, evidently fracturing it because a silver plate was put on the bone. He always limped because of this. Charlie was employed by the coal mines. He worked at a saw mill cutting timber at the mine sites in Leeds, Ashville, Irondale, and Walker County. Charlie and Helen lived on Oak Street in Leeds. When the family lived in Leeds they went to the Tidwell Hill Holiness Church. Tony said the family moved to Dunnavant when he was sixteen. Did they move back to Leeds? Charlie died at home in Leeds.

Charles O'Neal Alvis and Helen Lou Isbell had the following children:

child 9 viii. Richard Wayne Alvis (#12373) was born in Jefferson Co., Al 1 May 1954. His body was interred in Cedar Grove Cem., Leeds, Jefferson Co., Al. A pot of coffee fell off the stove and scalded this infant when he was six or 8 months old. He was taken to the Leeds Hospital which would not admit him evidently because of no insurance or money. He developed pneumonia and died.
